i know i did my old 306 i built with full stainless, but with this being just a road car i'm trying to stay sensible but failing. hate putting anything substandard back in so that's why everything so far is brand new. everything pretty much Sad

Same here, lots of good buts for sale but keep on spending over the odds for new parts. Budget going out the window very quick. Was only hoping to spend around £2k but looks like thats not going to happen. Not even added anything up yet but I have a pile of receipts sitting here what dont look cheap Sad

Bit of a set back, took most of the underseal off in the front arches and when doing it i have come across abit more rust Sad not good, both chassis legs where they join the inner wings are rotten so rather than bodge it up i want to do a poppa job so chopped the rust out and having my dad weld in some new plates in through the week before i paint it up.
Made a start in stripping the engine down to find loads of leafs and crap everywhere. What a mess it has left when i removed the inlet and and swept it all down LOL
Another thing i picked up a hydraulic handbrake with AP Racing bias valve what was removed from a 206 cup race car Cool

Came in from work after thinking whats the point in getting the subframe ect... powder coated? no ones going to see them. So i came in and just painted them instead, Quite happy with the outcome, just need to wait for a few more bits and bobs turning up then i can get it all back together and on the car.

Then i moved into the engine, things were going so well, pulled the head off to find water had found a way into one on the cylinders and over the years has dried up and started to rust abit! further inspection shows water had some how mad its way through the exhaust manifold then through the valve! i have filled the cylinder with oil and going to leave it over night then see if i can get rid rid of the surface rust. hopefully it will be ok but worst comes to it i will just hone all the bores, fit new piston rings and bearings. Still might actually do that to be honest then i know everything will be in good working order.

That looks f**ked. Why have you put oil in the bore? its just going to make things messy. That engine looks like it's had a hard life, and was running rich. the valve seats are not looking too hopeful either.

Oil will help clean the thick off so I can get the piston past when I remove them. Full engine will be getting rebuilt so not too fussed about past life, its not been ran in 4-5 years. Block will be getting honed, new bearings and rings, new oil seals. Head will also be getting sent off for a bit head work and a rebuild so engine should be like new when all goes back together.

Its helped. Drained the oil out and scraped the crap off the sides, stripped the bottom end and all pistons came straight out. Taking the block to get sorted at the weekend and new bearings ect... ordered ready to be put back together next week. The water had meen leaking through the injector seal down through the head onto the cylinder. Going to need a new flywheel and clutch as the clutch plate is sized solid to the fly!

Poly ARB bushes arrived today and received the 205 1.9 gti cam and inlet to be fitted to the engine once I get it all back together.
Away to get the bloke honed and bearings sized up tomorrow so I can get a new set ordered and make a start on rebuilding the engine early next week.
subframe all finished bar the steering rack.
Also made a start yesterday sorting all the crap out from inside the car and threw away what wasnt needed. I am happy to say there was a bin load plus a lood more of crap and probably a shoe box full of useful stuff LOL

So thats the block away getting honed, new rings and bearings ordered too. Oil seals and water pump is getting replaced at the same time too, also found myself a new head what has recently been rebuilt and only done 200mile since rebuild. Hopefully the engine will be ready and rebuilt by next weekend. Bought a couple other bits and bobs today as well, 440cc injectors, 4 paddle clutch, Group A torque bush and my engine service parts have turned up too.

Was suppose to be down at silverstone today but slept in Doh so i decided to crack on with the engine bay and give it a lick of paint, all was going will then it started to spit on a little bit! joys of working outside Sad couple bits are going to need rubbing down and re doing now but never mind.

What do you mean by tab? The little dimple on the inside of 1 of the bush's wheat sits over the balled on the arb?

Well came in from work last night wide awake so i decided to get the hammer out and fit my new group A torque bush at 1.30 this morning, hope the neighbors didnt mind Laugh my ass off Also since i dont have a garage at the minute i got myself a decent all weather car cover before the bad weather comes in. Keep meaning to build a car port but just cant be bothered at the minute.
Still waiting on my bottom end to get sorted, my mate has been off work with man flu Thumbs down will be down there Saturday to help hurry him on tho, once that's out the way then i can focus on getting interior, wiring and exhaust sorted.
