Hi all, ive just bought these C5 steels and wanted to find out if they are the better of the two types as ive heard that they made the later ones with stronger bolt holes or something...
Also i offered them up to my hub and looks like they fit perfectly without the need for spacers. I just want to make sure ive made a good purchase tis all Wink

Yep. The better ones take a bolt with a loose tapered washer.

    they've lasted this long as they haven't been used Wink they were subject to a safety recall because they cracked, I certainly would not use them.

    Well they've been used as track wheels and are still ok so will go with it Smile

    The "better" ones supposedly....



    These are the much fabled C5 wheel bolts



    Now grubby but straight and for sale.... with bolts!

    I don't understand how they crack. Provided the back of the wheel and the hub are flat its got a larger clamping area on the flat seat botls which should spread the load surely?

    The bolt seat cracks, theres not enough material there.

    Matt has the replacement type.

    You'll remember that quote when your hitting an apex and a wheel overtakes you and goes bouncing down the track! I wouldn't use them, if not for my own safety for the saftey of other track users. there only 100-120 for the revised set anyway. do us all a favour and scrap them so no one else has to face the risk.

    I paid £100 for them with the part worn tyres. Im feeling quite deflated now because i was very excited to be getting a bargain. I even borrowed the money from the girlfriend to get them and now it all seems like ive been mugged off by the lad who sold them to me through my own lack of knowlege.
    The car wont be on the road till next year anyway so i'll just use them to roll the car about then save some more money for a different set before i got it on track. Sad

    There is threads on here with the correct part numbers for the revised type, bit of research would of saved this crap buy!!!!Thumbs down

    those tyres are utter w**k, so you've done him a favour as you'll have to pay for their disposal, and given the wheels weigh sod all the scrap man will only give you a tenner for them LOL


    Don't you think you should have asked BEFORE buying them? ....

    I dread to think of the older designed wheel!

    I have the revised and they're now retired from road use. Every bump in the road and tiny hole would bend them. They look like 50pence pieces now Sad haha

    Two of the tyres are eagle F1's with 3-4 mm left on them. I'm not bothered about the tyres anyway as i'd be getting new ones. I know a few people at tyre garages that would do some favours for me so tyre removal is not an issue.

    Yes i should have done some 'propper' research as i did do a quick search but took a chance and it has backfired. Life lesson learnt Thumbs up

    Oh and thanks for making me feel better you horrible lot LOL
