I bought a used steering rack from Xsara VTS. I would like to use it my gti6. The stock steering on 6 has some kind of "limiter" for the right turn. The question is - what part is that I have to use from my original rack to limit the right turn of the vts rack?Following are service box drawings for GTI6 (left) and VTS racks (right). |

Iirc it's the ram that limits the travel. Use the power steering ram off ur 6 rack and you can't go wrong! 99% I'm right but I'm sure someone will be along and correct me if I'm wrong!! ________________________________________ Team Running Engine again!Team Negative Camber! Thanks guys But my technical english is not good enough and I can not understand what you mean by ram - I guess this is part number 10 from left picture - in the service box diagram it is named power steering cylider. Correct ? |

I've got a VTS rack and fitted the original Rallye ram and it works perfectly. Right hand lock is limited in the normal way. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

eliotrw wrote: Dan has been driving one with a vts ram iirc and has said it seems fine My 6 right turn limiting Ram on top of steering rack was leaking when we removed it ...so I decided to fit VTS Mk1 2.4 rack plus VTS Ram ....I bought off (PUG-306) on here . I kept VTS Ram only because I didn't have a non leaking 6 one ....the tyre (just) catches the corner of the box with 17x40x205 .!!!! I'm fitting 16x50x205 so a little bit bigger ....nothing to worry about...unless your going to drive at speed on full right lock ? PS ...if your renewing track rods on a VTS Mk 1 2.4 rack ....6 ones are each 11mm longer than VTS ones ...so buy 6 ones as they fit 100% ...but both inner boots are different ...if yours are cracking so you have to buy VTS ones ....as all ready said track rod ends are same |

I've totally refurbed my VTS mk1 rack with all OE bits !!!! PS ...6 RAM is 10mm shorter than VTS Ram which doesn't limit right lock as 6 one does .... |
