Hello, I'm looking for a good original cat as mine has decided to crack the week before my MOT expires.

Ideally I need it for the weekend, so something near Surrey ish that I can collect, or posted.

What have you got folks?

Is the body of it cracked or is it the tube at the rear. If the tube at the rear it is fixable - Daveyboy welded a new piece of tube on for me and it is sorted.

It is the tube at the rear, but I wasn't sure if it would be weldable in the condition it is in. It would be a much easier solution if it is!

The advice I received was as long as it is sound elsewhere, it is fine to weld on a new piece. Check all the seams etc. Daveyboy cut mine off where yours was cracked and welded on a new bit of tube. I wouldn't bother just welding up that crack, it might last, it might not. Jim needed to keep the orientation of the rear sleeve so immobilised it in a jig first and cut a new piece to exact fit, and welded it in.

Cat has to come off the car to do it though, and you'll need a new front connection kit to secure it to the downpipe.

I'd PM Daveyboy if I were you.

    Thanks all.

I've just been round to a place near here to ask about welding it up, and they're going to have a go on Friday then test it. We'll see how they get on!

Fraid so, weighed two in yesterday £190, if you don't want it or can't afford it that's fine, but to tell me I am taking the p**s is a little harshDunno
