I'm half way thru a 205 gti6 engine conversion (for road rallying) and wondering if I can get rid of the heat exchanger and just fit a sandwich plate straight to the block?
I have a 13 row mocal oil cooler, pipes and all fittings here off my old rally car and I've got the sandwich plate arriving 2 moz.

BTW this is not D James but a mate of his who he's allowed to use his username to ask this.... Thumbs up

its actually better to retain it and fit a shorter Renault filter, better warmup times.

If you remove it you'll need part no. 1103.54 to allow you to bolt on the sandwich plate

I've just literally done this on mine all I've done though is remove the Coolant pipes and bridge them together. Will be fitting it directly to the block when I get the correct centre bolt Though Wink. So far so good doesn't take long to warm up still and oil temps are 10 degrees lower. Gave it some s**t the other night and never saw past 100

Is that deff the correct part number? I wanna remove the heat exchanger completely now as it has a minor weap of oil. Thought it was the rubber O ring behind it but still leaking. Want to bolt the mocal sandwich plate straight to the block which requires a male thread at both ends.

That's what I'm thinking I'll have to do. It's a lot shorter than I'd have liked. Turned up from pug today about £6 plus vat
