Help!
Im fitting my Hispecs tomorrow so have braided lines to fit. Just realised i have never done lines on a 306 so any tips? Ive heard that some people can have a right farce of a time getting them undone from the steel lines in the car? Id really like to avoid cutting that up and fitting a new copper one just because i end up twisting the steel line. Any suggestions? Its a 99 ph3 as well if that makes any difference to the style of fitting?

I used molegrips and a small set of 6" stilson to get them apart, normally using a spanner just rounds the heads and then you are in the s**t.

If you cut the hose that goes to the existing brake then you can get a ring spanner over that which is the best tool for it. Soak the joint in plus gas, preferably a few times before trying to undo them

Not a bad idea! I know they have been done at a guess, a few years before i bought the car so they might not be so bad. Will try with a proper brake pipe spanner to start with very carefully. If they do start to slip, ill get a ring spanner on them. What i dont want is for the steel pipe to twist as i really dont want to have to replace that!

Yep, ideally a spray with WD40 once a day for a week before you wish to undo them. Yes

Their not fun if seized even with massive mole grips and proper brake pipe spaners sometimes require some heat as well.

Just don't heat them up to much if you have to at all as the hoses will go BANG in your face with boiling fluid.

All done Big grin

Was surprisingly painless. Cleaned both up with a wire brush, used a brake pipe spanner (which was silly tight on there) and wrenched away. The first cracked off nice and easy. Second just started to slip then cracked off. All in, new brakes were fitted and bled in a hour!

Cheers for the help guys.
