A tenner plus the postage? The rubber necks on the two little breathers were a bit perished but perfectly functional. Has a drain at the bottom, and a sight tube at the back for seeing how full it is of oil/water.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. daveyboy wrote: dangti6 wrote: Make me one too please Jim Do you need a tank made then? Not particularly. But could do with one for mine as I've a breather straight off the cam cover which isn't ideal. Doesn't spit or anything but can whiff a bit. ________________________________________ |

My Cherry didn't breathe much at all, it was more condensation than oil that the tank collected and it was on for months before it was even quarter full. Race regs require a 2 litre catch tank though for extra capacity.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. Normally, the engine breathes right back into the intake, this is why if you take off your inlet manifold it is full of oily baked on sludge, this isn't good for power, fuel economy or emissions. Breathe the vapours into a separate tank, that you clean periodically and you eliminate that issue. Plus you get a better air and fuel ratio, with less oil being sucked into the inlet. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. So literally the only reason all cars dont come with one is maintenance?I assume a system where the vapour went back to the sump would be a **** idea? ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

I dont think so mate, as the oil is coming off the head as a vapour etc, and condenses in the tank. I have seen what comes out of the tank and wouldnt want that in my engine Not sure if its the same if the pipe just went straight to the sump though As a manufacturer, its easier to just chuck it back into the inlet and let it get burnt off, more environmentally friendly than venting to air. Edit: misread your post and missed the fact you said it would be a bad idea.. yes, I think it would as stated below. Hope that helps ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |
