So as some of you may have read I got my Gti 6 sept. 1st last year, in October I drove through a flood and bent a rod.....new engine sorted that, happy days.
2 days ago pulling out my road my Cambelt tensioner sheared off and not the usual way where the bolt snaps but a chunk of the engine block itself came off with the tensioner.
So I was going to get it superchipped this month now I am putting another new engine in it Sad valves are bent and the block has a chuck missing so cheapest option is new engine.
I'm rebuilding it with the best parts I can afford so will be best quality just frustrating as this nice weather has come along and I was just starting to have some fun with the GoPro!!

You have posted 7 times and two of them are about totalling your engine. That is not a good post/engine ratio.

And there was me defending the reliability of 6's earlier on

That's the sort of luck I'm having though. I'm still going to build it up again and stick with it, it will take more then a few engine transplants to make me get rid.

Oh dear, this failure of the bolt mounting shearing off the block has happened to a few members on here now. Sad

And Jamie I believe they are reliable but to know something like that was going to happen is nearly impossible to call, I changed the Cambelt and tensioner when the last engine went in so was very surprised, then again it was failure of the mounting point not the actual tensioner.

Yeah something like that just can't be helped, plus the price of a replacement engine isn't too bad really. They are going for about £150-200 by what I've seen.

Did you torque up the bolt for the tensioner correctly when you fitted it out of interest? Dunno
