I've had a search through trying to find details on ecu unlocking but can't seem to find a definitive answer. Sorry if this has already been covered in depth elsewhere- I couldn't find it.

My understanding:
Standard ecu unlock requires ignition on, then removal of the ecu plug. This will unlock ecu from immobiliser that it's paired with.
I want to do an engine swap into my 309gti, so is it correct that this should work, or do I have to otherwise modify the ecu? From what I've read it seems the ecu won't fit straight into another 6 without modification of either the transponder unit or the ecu itself, but this shouldn't be required for my application right?

Thanks

This is correct, once the ECU has been 'soft' unlocked it will be able to be fitted to your application. Yes

I'm assuming that you won't be using the immobiliser function in the 309 conversion? Dunno

Yes. For what you want - removal from the donor with the ignition on will suffice.
