I will consider a partner van. Dont want to spend any more than £300 as it will just get trashed off having the bikes in the back and dirty as hell off driving through fields and quarrys ect...

Got a ex Royal Mail pug partner. V reg, 103k, body work is a bit tatty but mechanically it's sound. We've had it since 60k and its been serviced regularly by me and my old man (ex mechanic). It's a 1.9NAD and has a Bosch pump so can be run on veg. Had a new starter motor and clutch in the last 10k

Yours for £350

My Cup has been abused with the amount of crap I have thrown in the back of it. Something I can bung an engine for example in, or go to collect some wheels without having to put 2 in the boot and 2 on the back seats for example would be bloody useful - especially at that sort of money. It's up for tax and insurance next month so worth thinking about.

    Why?

    Wouldn't make it much quicker.

Do they do a newer HDi Partner?

yes, you dont have to go much newer to find a HDI, earlier ones are the 2.0 90 engine, very late facelift ones can be 1.6 hdi's which I have heard are excellent on fuel, not that slow at all, but do have their issues if neglected (as with anything tbh, but namely turbo's and inejectors being very troublesome rather than just wearing out)

the DW8 n/a diesel isnt fantastic on fuel especially on motorways as its not that long geared.

So the 2.0 HDi is probably the best all rounder?

I've never actually looked twice at them. The space doesn't look much but it's got fair entry height for a crane etc and can stack a fair bit in there I guess.

Being a commercial vehicle, is the insurance much of an issue?

i think insurance take the view of "WTF would you want a van for if you're not in the trade"

    etc
