I'm using a standard box which has been strengthened by Miles, with the gears being shotpeened and coated. I'm not a gearbix 'abuser' which helps a lot with it's longevity I feel. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

After doing a full season on a quafie id recommend it over the gripper that lasted half a day. The 3J looks awesome but is only rated to 150 lbft. Wheelspin can be counter acted by good tyres and longer gear ratios. Also if you have a decent ecu you can always add some traction control. The quafie is stronger than a plate diff all day long as its a mechanical diff and doesn't rely on friction. In all honesty the diff is the least of your concerns with decent torque and power. Just my 10p worth. ________________________________________ |

I really like my quaife although you need to trust it especially in the wet. It's not always easy to feel when it is about to spin up both wheels________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

I love my quaife.... most of the time....The extra grip coming through and out of bends allows you to carry so much more speed and get on the power a lot earlier without plowing straight on into the barrier. My only gripe is as others have said once you run much more than standard torque there's times when you put you're foot down in a straight line and it can't decide which wheel to put the power through.... you can literally feel it pulling the car about and torque steering before the tyres have even broken traction sometimes. Other times it works spot on. I should get onto brands hatch in May will see how it performs under proper track conditions. May be my driving that's the main problem not the diff ________________________________________ Black power baby! It's not terrible quite easily controlled just can feel it doing it which it wouldn't with a plate diff. But as you say I've always said if both wheels are on the ground it will do the job very well.________________________________________ Black power baby! Quaife for the road, plate for the track is my 2p worth! If you think torque steer is bad with the quaife, don't buy a plate diff. Even set up lightly they will pull you about if one wheel hits a wet white line or something, set it up aggressively and you need to be on your toes constantly. Plus they need maintenance, not loads, but not exactly straightforward when the time comes! ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |
