I need to replace the drivers side drive shaft, as the ABS ring has gone on it and it looks like the passenger side isn't far behind it. What are the motor factor drive shafts like, or just Peugeot all the way for them?

Also, is it possible to have only the drive shaft without the half shaft for the drivers side, or does it make more sense to change the whole thing. I assume it would.

Does anyone have any idea's on price aswell before I have another massive shock on the phone to Peugeot. The guy there now know's my voice when I phone, he knows how much I've spent on parts and I think he laughs about it with the other mechanics there

you can change the outer CV on its own, most factor cv boots are pretty crap though so if possible re-use the originals if good or get original or GKN, corrteco or glaser.

J and R joints mate.

I have had the new shafts apart and identical to originals apart from a solid shaft is used instead of hollow

£40 for complete shafts inc the full split shaft!!

Well the boots look pretty shot on mine, they look like the original shafts they are so rusted!

So with the J&R, does the shaft come with both CV joints on. I've never changed an O/S shaft, so what exactly is the score with connecting to the halfshaft?

never take the shaft apart, change it as a whole or just the outer joint.

What! A whole shaft (O/S) costs the same as the N/S though. How can that make sense.

That sounds fair enough, I won't take it apart then!

Should I change the seals whilst I am there?

Yep same price!

Ive ordered them for 306 and 406 and all are the complete shaft. I at first though that being same price they must just be upto the split but nope complete!

I only took them apart as modifying them etc

Lasted 7 months before they died?

They have a 2 year warranty as well, I think?
