Basically to get the seats central the mount still sits over the tunnel so not really got any lower.
Has anyone else had this issue as every picture I've seen looks as if the seats sit inbetween the tunnel and side of the car

Long story short but I used to have reclining buckets on omp frames in my rallye which I sat a bit high so decided to get some new omp fixed buckets with side mounts and weld in seat rails which from seeing others on here I was going to weld between the tunnel and the side and then bolt strait to the rails. Well all seemed strait forward until I offered the seats in. Basically to get the seats central the mount still sits over the tunnel so not really got any lower. Of course not, they mount the inside edge of the seat on the tunnel and outside on the seat bar. This is the only way to do it if you want to get the seat lower though.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Yeah which is the only way we could get it to sit right today thing is I will fit just pretty close to the roof especially once helmet is on but I guess I need to decide to chop or not lol. I guess the hardest bit is keeping the strength in the side once cut. I'll have a look tomorrow and see what's involved Thanks for your help |

Weld some 3mm plates to the tunnel. On my car they welded the seat bars straight to the tin on the tunnel which isn't strong enough. I'll be fixing that.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. Make a decent job of it, seat bars can be immensely stressed in an accident.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I wouldn't have removed the cross piece. But if you do it's a good idea to stitch weld the floor pan now as they can pull away if left unsupported.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Needed to remove the piece as it slightly fouled the seat. Have cut it down to the floor not completely removed the pieces that were connected to the pan but will stich it just to be on the safe side |

Just weld a gusset to the floor from the forward seat bar if your worried about the floor flexing down.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments.
