Ah right cheersThumbs up

Can that be used to get a nice cold idle, or is it just enough to let the engine run ok?

Just wondering if a car on ITB's can be mapped/set up to run nicely as a daily driverSmile

I may be wrong here. But if I remember from when I played around with my Omex map, isn't the cold running able to be adjusted by trimming the fuel in relation to the engine temperature? A fairly easy on the fly tweak can be done.

Im sure when mine was running too rich when first built I was able to pull some fuel out at points relating the certain engine temps...

It'll idle well enough cold and hot with some fine tuning, downside is you use more fuel/have worse emmisions at idle compared to using an idle valve.

Other option is to run a stepper motor on the throttle shaft as the throttle stop.

Find a decent mapper and lots of time Thumbs up

This highlights knowing your engines and ecu massively as the other mapping thread in last few days, if the mapper knows the engines they will have a map that will be damn close and theyll know what it needs, and most importantly what sounds right.

Chatting to Sandy on monday about Will DiClaudio's new engine, it was rr mapped in an hour, because a-sandy has done a fair few TU engines now on DTA, and b-he has quite a few very similar spec full race engines, so the maps wont be that different.

Also just because its a race engine doesnt mean cold running is ignored, theyre probably the best sounding throttle bodied engines i've heard on cold idle! Other than maybe a bmw m engine, though thats subjective!

Are you not trying to solve a problem that doesn't actually exist though? With some good mapping, as said, it will idle fine. Or have you got an engine that just wont run on idle?

My engine runs bodies, and has PT84 cams, which are a pretty big cam in relation to the others that get used, and mine idles pretty well. I admit it may need a bit more work on the cold side of things, but that proves that even if it isn't 100% right, it will still tick over...

On the SC'd motors where we use DTA management, we ditch the idle valve and use ignition advance to control idle.

Simple and works well - cold starts are no problem, it just takes some time to get the mapping right. You also need a fair bit of advance when really cold.
