Hi

Need some advice on installing the above engine into my rally-cross 205, i blew up my S16/MI16 (252 bhp) motor big style at the last race meeting and trashed the lot apart from the cams.

Will the cams from a MI16 head fit into the GTI6 head or are they different as they are the only thing that survived.

Are the inlet and exhaust manifold patterns the same if not has anyone got a inlet manifold for carbs as i have MBE throttle bodies to install and also a race exhaust manifold?

Really desperate for the info as we start to build it tonight as racing in 11 days .

And if anyone has a super charger they want to sell then i might be tempted in the next few weeks....

Cams won't fit, inlet stud pattern is the same, the exhaust stud pattern is slightly different but you should be able to modify it to fit fairly easily.

later 16v heads have larger bearing journals so the cams wont fit.

inlets fit fine, however I'd get a Satchell one as the longman/jenvey one is compromised, you lose nearly 10% power and torque on a standard engine let alone a race engine.

exhaust from an XU10 MI16 will bolt on however the ports are a different shape.

Hi Gents

Thanks for the info

Looks like i will be racing a standard engine for the next meeting.....

What will i need to do to supercharge this engine, i know rods and pistons and might as well take it to 2.2 as i have the crank out of my S16 motor but whats the best cams / head work do i need to take it to full race or just upgrade to rally spec with same valve sizes and spend the money on the SC kit?

Will be looking for 300 hp + with SC kit.

Marty

S16 crank is the same as a gti6, you need XUD11 92mm crank and 1mm+ overbore to go 2.2.

No need to change the valves, they're big enough.

if going low boost, then a refreshed standard engine is sufficient, unless you want 400 bhp...

me too.
Just for the s**ts and giggles.
with a steel crank and solid tappets too,
And individual throttle boddies on the inlet with a dry sump..
Would be the ultimate engine imo Razz

Sounds like the plan for July once i get a break in the racing ....

Will i need a steel crank as i am being told steel rods, forged pistons, new valves and springs and mild cams is all that i will need with the SC kit?

If anyone has any of these items for sale then let me know...
