yes gti's were alloy block XU's, 1580 and 1905 cc 8 valvers.

whatever cage you get I would recommend getting one that attaches to the rear floor not the arches.

Right, started on removing the interior this morning. Can't believe how much wiring is under the carpets and side panels. It's everywhere ! just swotted up on what the silver ecu is that sits in the offside rear side panel. apparently it's the central locking ecu, so that can come out with all its wiring too.

Then i'm going to start on removing the electric sunroof, because that looks really heavy, and its high up too. I can just see the c of g dropping Big grin

I haven't removed the immobiliser keypad yet, because I've obviously got to bypass it somehow or the car will never start again ! But at the minute I'm not sure how you do it.

I'll post the pics

Hi
Not had much time to do anything recently, but had a couple of hours today, so I thought I'd attack my wiring. I did a search, and read everything I could find about removing the ecu. I typed in the keycode and started the car, then unplugged the ecu. Job done. Or so I thought, now the car still won't start without the ecu plugged in and the keycode entered, but worse, everytime you open the door the headlights start flashing, and wont stop for anything ! hmmm, not good.

still on a brighter note, I've ordered some gti6 brakes from Darren at crspares, and bought some unknown alloys off ebay with toyo proxy tyres.

Looking at your pics is making me queasy, you need to figure out how to rotate them before you post them.
