Which area do you think the fixing is left in?

It's pretty obvious when you start removing things around the area and move it and see where the resistance is. Is it the handbrake section you're having trouble with or the under dash bit where the ash tray is?

A pic of where you've got to and where the struggle is may help.

But if in doubt and you get fed up - pull it hard until something breaks and put a wanted add up LOL

If you can see it - undo it or remove/force what you need to out of the way to do so.

I've never had a problem removing one so fail to see/remember any access problems.

Have you removed the screws at the back side of it?

Here's a picture of someone who recently had the problem.

This could be you very shortly.
