do the cams on these rallye engines wear ? got a funny rattle noise coming from the exhaust cam the car has done 145,000 miles and had a top end rebuild at 110,000 . its only just started making this noise, read so many posts on here about bent valves and tapping its enough to get anyone worried lol, ive had the car for about 2 months now and its only just started making the tappy rattle noise since about a week . if it would of had a bad rebuild at 110,000 im guesing it would of tapped from then on ?________________________________________ darrenevansbianca white rallye t706wox |

its probs a tappet. they can gunk up and jam up a bit a good run an they will quiet down but easily become noise again. best bet removing the cams and cleaning the tappets. ________________________________________ 1997 ph1 bianca GTI6 - The looker1996 ph1 Sigma GTI6 - Dead 1999 Red Rallye - The Daily 2005 Nissan Navara D40 - Family car 1968 Mustang Coupe - The dirty little secret Put ya foot down, put ya foot down we'll loose em easy! |

More than likely a vacuum pump rattle, they are quite a common thing to develop a loud rattle and given that they are driven by the exhaust cam it does make the noise sound like it's exhaust cam related. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |
