Hey guys, i know a few of you are into bikes so thought id post a few pics up of my new toy that I picked up saturday! Big grin

Traded the GSXR in for her, shes lovely to ride, absolute bags of torque so you can find yourself pulling like a train in pretty much any gear, regardless of what speed you were doing, In no way as fast as my trusty old suzuki, but seriously... that torque! Shock

Lazy kinda bike, for a lazy kinda guy LOL

Nice looks like a bike ive been looking at!

So nice riding a bike and not having to fill up every 5mins like in the car! Good for beating traffic when i go to certain places and during certain times of the day.

What bike have you got your eye on mate?

Yeah they are great with traffic, absolute god send for me when the M4 starts getting bloody silly!

I'm actually a v-twin fan, but am going to view a very clean and cheap gsxr later.

Best thing about bikes, is that insurance seems to be a lot cheaper than car insurance.

I'm determined to do my licence this year, got as far as doing my theory previously then got a girlfriend who was fairly anti-bike, no such problem now. Annoyingly the theory has now expired, but that's not exactly the hard part.

Try not to drop it, looks like it'd be pretty easy to ruin.

Cheers guys.

I loved my gsxr jord, im sure youd be quite impressed if you grabbed yourself one. Not as torquey as a twin, and nearly useless at anything below 3000rpm (at least the carbed ones were) but when you climb the rev range they are amazing! Thumbs up

Yeah ill try not to drop it owain, it does indeed look like it would be easy to ruin. Ill try find some bungs to stick on for if i ever do, hopefully ill find some that dont spoil the look! I'd definitely recommend doing your licence, at least before they bring any more ruling in.

Yeah they keep threatening to change the rules, part of the reason I want to do it soon so I can just do DAS then just worry about learning to ride rather than learning to pass tests.

My parents were bikers back in the day so we used to go to bike rallies as kids, so I've always had a deep love for them. My dad's still got a shed full of old Russian bikes I'm determined to get working one day Yes

The whole restricted bike craic for young riders might be a decent idea, but I'm glad I didn't have to do that s**t.

2 lessons then test = R6

Now a lad at work has bought an R6, so I'm gonna have to scrap my rally car idea and get another

Looking good! Those ohlins are a bit bright though! I've been promising myself a bike for far too long but just can't justify it right now. I'd love a Buell, and they're really coming down in price too!

That's cool mate, I got rid of my hornet and got myself this instead had it bout few times and loving it although obviously it's not comfy on the longer runs bit not as bad as what I thought it was going to be

I've also got a BSA 350 silver star 1964 now that's a bike separates the men from the boys lol gotta mind gears are on the right tho as had an almost epic fail going for the rear brake lol

I was watching a programme about old bikes the other day and hadn't realised how late (compared with cars) they'd standardised the layout of the controls. When I asked my dad he confirmed the same even up to the 70s when he had his bikes.

One of the ones on this programme had throttle twist and front brake on the right as normal, left pedal was the left brake, right foot was the clutch, gear lever was on the side of the fuel tank and the left twist grip was to advance and retard the engine timing for maximum efficiency and power before variable valve timing came in.

I cannot imagine how impossible that would be to ride.

I rode the k5 thou for a few laps at the ring and enjoyed it a lot. But I was just thinking it had too much unusable power, great to have fun with, but just not a road bike.

For me, a geared 600 is all I need. I've only ever been overtaken on straights.... by thou's doing 160+ until a corner then crawl around, point, squirt... zooom!

As Chris said though, jump off a modern Jap bike and try riding an old bike. The older and more British, the better! Then you'll wonder how Britain ever had a motor industry :p
