I can't find any recent 1/4 mile times Thumbs down

are these not popular? Shock

Damp and cold, the 306 XSi managed a 15.8 Which I don't think is too bad.

On a run right after some rain/sleet and a now 30mph head wind, it managed a 16.9. straight after a GTI-6 did a 17.01 Unsure

What's that like in comparison to normal standard engined 306's?

I'm not sure if maybe the GTI-6 was maybe broken? LOL

considering we're still running a GTI engine on XSi management.

These cars with standard gearing don't fair well in the quarter mile...first gear is way too long. These cars were built for A and B roads and these are where they excel. Yes

I saw a Rallye at Santa Pod do circa 15.6 1/4, which did disappoint me some what but then Rich_W's High Boost only made 13.4 IIRC when it was pushing close to 400BHP. I think that in mind just reinforces the points made above.

Yeah, it's the same with mine. If I was doing the quarter mile all the time in mine then it would be worth changing the box for a close ratio 5 speed box with lowish top speed as I think the way my car is setup it could get into the 11's with the right gearing to match. However, I enjoy the car on the open roads/track so am happy with the standard gearing. Smile

13.4 for me @ 127mph, no traction what so ever and a rubbish first gear lol

Exactly Tom, it's all about that first gear. Yes

With the upped rev limit on mine, it can do 57mph in first gear, that's never going to impress at Santa Pod. Laugh

I know it's wrong wheel drive :p Just interested what people got with theirs so I have a rough idea how good this (still unfixed) mashup of 306 parts compared to standard ones.

It's still got the XSi 5 speed box on it, first isn't that long, it does bog down in second though.

More fun was had going to and from the strip Wink

even in the p**sing rain. corners like it's on rails.

Mine was on for nine seconds flat, but then the barriers came down and me and the other guy looked at each other and then dropped a gear because for some reason we'd been short shifting in a drag race, then I put my foot down some more because for some reason I'd been part throttling in a drag race, then we made it through the barriers and just missed a train, but then I was looking all smug and wasn't paying due care or attention and I hit another car and I rolled it, then the other guy gave me his car because he owed me a ten second car, then I didn't do the sequel but then got talked back into it years later by my agent.

Right, let's do some maths.

Stan rolls his car six feet forwards then back once a week because that's what owning a car is all about. So that's twelve feet.

5280 feet in a mile, so 1320 in a 1/4 mile.

That's 110 iterations of Stan's "weekly hoon".

Therefore Stan's 1/4 mile time is two years and six weeks. Add that one to your chart.

I don't think he had factored in the disturbing wear rate of shoe rubber in this process. Would that transfer of shoe rubber to floor not increase the friction and actually wear his tyres out quicker?

Of course that time is assuming it's okay for a car to turn through 180 every six feet of the drag strip and alternate between forward and reverse gears each time, if you're only counting forward motion he'd be done by May 2017 if he started now.

I dunno, I think I'd definitely turn up at Santa Pod to watch Stan do that. Only once mind, granted. Plus yes, there's a very real chance the car wouldn't know what all this activity was and would spontaneously combust anyway, so everyone wins really.
