Two fans are for gaylordsRazz

Presuming the rallye only has the high speed setting for fan?Dunno

The Rallye has a completely different setup, doesn't use the brown plug on the thermostat housing like the GTi does.

Yeah I know thatThumbs up got the fan switch mounted in the rad by top hoseSmile

So its just single speed on the rallye? Dunno

no, its two speed same as a 1.9 205.

Ok ta . don't think my low speed works then.Dunno

Is the switch in rad a twin one then?

Or are the 2 speed's controlled by something else?

So i had a look at it yesterday and i found out that only the right fan (if your looking through the grille) works on high speed. Do you think i need a new set of fans ? Cheers !

When the one fan is spinning, have you tried tapping the centre of the other fan to see if it momentarily spins up? I had one fan stationary on mine and a quick smack made it work, confirming the motor was shot/sticking. One 2nd hand fan unit later and all was well.

If only one of your fans is spinning then the fan itself is most likely duff.

You can test this by putting 12v direct to the fan in question and see if it spins up. Yes

Unplugged the temp sensor to get the fans going, when the one started spinning I tapped the other one and off it went ! So they both work on both speeds now, is it a loose connection in the motor or something ??

More than likely stuck brushes in the fan motor, it will get gradually worse. Best thing to do would be to source a known working second hand item and then when your dodgy fan starts to play up again, swap it out.

By 'item' I mean get hold of a second hand fan. They are available separately and it should take you no longer than 1.5 hours to change if you've never done it before, they are not that difficult. Smile
