I have to remove the onesallreday on, Prep, paint then refit them? That's right, the head is line bored as is the mains in the block, so the carriers are definitely not interchangeable! ________________________________________ Team Running Engine again!Team Negative Camber! Well you guys were right, cam belt was too tight. Took it to my mate's today and we slackened it off a bit, the whining noise has drastically reduced. It may still be a little tight as there is still a little bit of a whine as the revs drop past 2.5k. I'll leave it for a week or so to see how it develops. Thanks for the advice gents ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi6PS3 - Black Ops 2 Engine crane for hire Renfrewshire |

It wouldn't surprise me if there is minor damage caused by over-tightening the belt. Hence the minor squeal you have now. ________________________________________ Richies Project RallyeElectrical work carried out in Portsmouth jamiek_uk2000 wrote: - Top Tip!!! You'll need to throw money at the car. Not on parts. Just stand near your car and throw loose change at it, I find this increases performance for a short period of time |

Only did about 100 miles with it too tight, so fingers crossed. What could have been damaged out of interest? ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi6PS3 - Black Ops 2 Engine crane for hire Renfrewshire |

The tensioner had been damaged on my old rallye due to overtightening, so had to change that again even though it was only a few miles old!! |

Glad you're on the way to getting it sorted, I knew that was the issue, seen it so many times before unfortunately. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I have a brand new spare tensioner and idler in the garage so may change those over if I feel the need. But she is sounding a lot lot better than before so I'm well happy. I thought there may have been some internal head damage due to it sitting so long. Loosening the belt was quick easy fix ( SO FAR SO GOOD ) ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi6PS3 - Black Ops 2 Engine crane for hire Renfrewshire |
