As per title, I'm after a partner/berlingo for my dad has his has just died! Preferably a 2 litre hdi, would consider a straight diesel but definitely don't want a 1.6 hdi!

Let me know if you have/know of one!

Cheers

Mainly turbo and injector related issues, oftten leading to self destructing.

Exactly as welshpug says! as far as I'm aware mainly turbo issues, my mate has a garage and he quite often has either the 1.6 hdi's and ford 1.6 tdci's in with turbo issues, not a cheap thing to put right either.
I'm led to believe that the 2l hdi is a much safer bet!

Don;t touch a 1.6, I'm not into Derv's but I've seen quite a few of these broken with the garage behind me

Oh right, that's interesting. I had a 1.6 HDi Citroen Xsara Picasso in the past, and that was generally ok whilst i owned the car. Something to bear in mind though Smile thanks

The turbo's only go because people cut corners and use the incorrect engine oil. Service history is the key or go new!

turbos go due to blocked oil feed return pipes, they should be cleaned/replaced every 40k miles and correct grade engine oil used and changed every 8k miles. Also suffer from egr valve failure and there £200 to buy a new egr valve. Other than that they are a great engine.

Rebuild kit for turbo is around £120 and about 2 and half hour job so not that bad as long as you dont carry on driving them when turbo is on its way out.
