Thanks for the tips fellas .. how would i check the driveshaft or cv joint?
Saying that I'm probably gona take it to another couple of garages for them to give me a second opinion so will ask them to check these bits over too ...

I was thinking if it is the diff. driveshaft / cv joint will it cause any other major issues if i continue to drive the car?

A garage would charge £120/150 to do a clutch? Plus the price of a clutch?

I'm guessing that would be just labour Dave.
Clutch and gearbox would need to be paid for on top i reckon.

You'll need to throw money at the car. Not on parts. Just stand near your car and throw loose change at it, I find this increases performance for a short period of time

When I used to do them, I used to charge £200 labour for new clutch, lightened flywheel and clutch cable fitting. Yes

This is approx what i would charge too. Fitting of a replacement box shouldn't really be any extra as it has to come

out anyway

Approx 4 hours labour plus gear oil and seals if required

Yeah that's me working out about £30/hr charge plus another hour for fookin about if its awkward (saying that I dunno what decent garages by u charge) and a foreigner ( JOB NOT PERSON u judgemental gits LOL ) might cost same/less as long as mechanics competent

u could pick up a vts box for peanuts on eBay and a clutch and cable would b bout £80ish from Eurocarparts (roughly what I payed but u can use the discount codes flyin around aswell)
