I was driving the T5 along an A road last night doing about 50 - 60 mph and some old guy pulls straight out in front of me from a Junction on the right. Obviously because he came from the right, I had nowhere to go so I slammed on the brakes and kept it on tarmac until I ran out of space and swung the car left to avoid him. Just luckily there happened to be a stretch of open grasslands right next to me with no Bank so I had a safe run off and stopped safely. I don't even think the guy knew what had happened, it must have been his passengers who told him as he almost carried on driving.
He was genuinely very apologetic and as I don't get shaken up very easily I didn't make a big deal of it, took his details in case the car has any damage and off I went. If anything, I hope this thread will make some of you realise that even on a quiet, empty or deserted road at night, anything can happen and if I had been going over the limit then the situation would more than likely have been fatal for someone.
Oh, and Volvo's have awesome brakes on the T5's, how that never spun on the grass I don't know.
