it means the timing has been advanced by a couple of degrees / teeth when it was last done to, in short terms, provide a small gain in power. but really small.. i know the foreigners do it but run mad stuff like ethanol etc so would notice more gain for them i suppose________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Yep, it is supposed to give slightly more power and slightly lower down the rev range too. A few members have done it here although with the ridiculously small running clearances you have to be careful when doing so. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

rikky wrote: advance = spark after tdc retard = spark before tdc We're talking about valve timing not ignition timing... And even then, the more advanced the ignition timing the spark would be before TDC so you've still got it the wrong way around! ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I don't think there is much to be gained in reality, my valve timing on the boosted engine is at standard settings and that's where it will be staying. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

no, less if anything, as it will produce more torque, meaning smaller throttle openings required at cruise.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

i played with the inlet timing, felt more torquey (a little) didnt see a difference in fuel consumptionwhen i did this the engine lost its kick at 4500, but as said, i felt it was more like an 8v earlier on weird as that may sound |
