If it is as clean and tidy as it looks in the photos and you can get it for the right price, then it could be a good basis for a project. Having to sort the engine out would mean that you would know you would get trouble-free ownership for years once sorted - if the rest of it is sorted. The key thing is to establish what else needs doing - having to do radiator/brakes/exhaust/tyres/other stuff as well as the engine would mean costs mounting up meaning it is not much of a bargain whatever price you got it for. But if it has tidy bodywork and is up to date in most other areas it could be a good prospect. The ad seems fairly up front and if it really has been "well looked after" than go for it. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

The taping could just be a lose spark plug too, they seem to like doing that.________________________________________ When I've got time I forget what I wanted to do, and when I remember what I wanted to do, I have no time! |

Ah, I thought you meant it as a comparison to just buying an engine. ________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

hazz wrote: Really ? i thought he would just wack the price up Well he probably would. You can tell the difference between a loose plug tap and a bent valve tap. I remember a forum member bringing his car to me a few years ago to drop it off to have the head re-conditioned as it had bent valves and was tapping. As he arrived onto the driveway, I thought, "that's making a 'chuffing' sound and a light tap". I got the toolkit out, one loose spark plug later and after 5 minutes the car was fixed, and he could take it away the same day. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I bought my China as a non runner but then I had a good engine/box (replacement head/HG/belt/water pump/bottom pulley/Valeo clutch...) ready to go in, Pitty I had to sell after the engine went in. Good luck with it! ________________________________________ I Live for the 306TEAM CHERRY PINK RALLYE 2008 BMW ///M 320d |
