Typically rattly noises and lack of servo assistance, pull the pipe off with the engine running, you should feel a vacuum as you stick your finger over the end of the pipe.

Exactly this. Yes

What are the symptoms you are experiencing?

Well iv got a low manifold vaccum which is causing bad over fueling problems - feul in oil, iv changed almost all things I can think of, iv checked the timing, pins drop in the holes the only way u can tell there's something wrong with it is that it almost wants to misfire as its approaching 2000rpm then clears my mate keeps telling me to just drive at higher revs but all the time its playing up i know its still killing the oil, iv done 3 oil changes in about 100 miles or less ha I'm almost ready to give up, I did put it in a garage about a month ago got it back apparently fixed, all the idiots done was stuff a bit of copper pipe in the end of the stepper motor pipe a squashed it flat the f**cking car wouldn't even start up and to make things worse I had already payed the dohnuts.

Would imagine the low vacuum is from f**ked rings from an overfuelling problem.

Check fuel pressure and coolant temperature sensor.

Vac pump wont cause this.

I will carry on trying different things compression test being one someone did suggest the rings but the car was fine untill I took it off the road and done a full service lightened flywheel and new pulley it's been playing up since thats why iv checked the timing I have tweaked the cams abit abit to get a higher vaccum but still doesn't run spot on so iv just put it back to the pins I have changed the fpr and got genuine temp sensor. It's so hard to even tell there's any thing wrong with its starts up instant idles great drives great if u got a slightly heavy foot the only two things are the low vaccum a faint misfire/stutter approaching 2000rpm only on light throttle in 4th 5th and 6th gear ahh one other thing has anyone driven there car with a nackered speed sensor if so it sometimes drives like that when u let go of the throttle to change gear n that the revs drop off instantly like ur braking but only sometimes and the speed sensor is brand new genuine part lol

unlikely to be the speed sensor, that tends to give slight hesitations and nothing more, also your speedo wouldn't work if it was broken.

how do you know the vacuum is low?

Your symptoms point to a possible lambda fault or a coil pack breaking down. I would swing more towards a dodgy coil pack as a lambda sensor on it's way out would usually give idle problems and you say the idle is spot on. Wink

Can you not go to your mate's garage and view the live data or read any fault codes which may be present? Dunno

Alternatively, there are a couple of sensors you've not mentioned.

The Air Intake Temp sensor on the rear of the throttle body and as Welshpug suggests the Coolant Temp sensor.
If either of these are playing up it will cause the engine to run either too rich or lean which will cause the symptoms you describe.

That's the annoying thing there is no fault codes and live data is showing all sensors to be working I thought it was because the timing was out so I spoke to lynx briefly about it and asked if they could retime it and then decided to check it myself and it was out a little bit but only to the point where one of the puns was hard to slot in but now the pins drop in the holes and its noticeably better but not sorted has anyone ever timed one and found that on the timing marks are out or are the timing marks always bang on, thanks for all your suggestions.

Iv got the lightweight pulley and flywheel what are the chances of one of these parts causing the problem? Weather it be the pin hole in the pulley being slightly out or something, Not slating them in any way I think there great but iv got to consider all possible problems

If you have a Rich _W crank pulley then the timing hole will be spot on with no chance of it slipping. Thumbs up
