The temperature gauge has been messing me about for ages, now the cars coming out of storage I want to sort it.

When ignition is turned on, it will come on, displaying an outside temperature but showing it as 30 degrees.

Then it will hunt all the way down to -30 degrees skipping three degrees at a time, then finally it displays --

Anyone had this before? I've put my display into a different car and it worked fine so not that, also swapped the sensor and that worked on the other car. Does that just leave wiring? Or is there something else?

Thats interesting Wink
I'm thinking it could be the actual unit itself playing up, tried swapping it with one you know works?

You'll need to throw money at the car. Not on parts. Just stand near your car and throw loose change at it, I find this increases performance for a short period of time

I would imagine it's the sensor in the mirror to be honest. Yes

As I said I changed the sensor with a known working one and it was still broken. I put the sensor from my car into another one and it worked.

Sh*t the bed is anyone reading my posts??! Laugh

Thanks for the help though, I think it has got to be wiring even though the wires look fine.

Doh

Must stop skim reading...LOL

If the display works and the sensor has been swapped for another good known working one, then I'm with you on the fact that you have a broken wire on that part of the loom. Yes

Best thing to do is to check the continuity on the loom and see which wire doesn't bell out. Wink

Thats based on the fact that theres only 3 components to it. Sensor, wiring and clock and the clock is literally just a display for it.
