Right a mate and I have got hold of a SPARE engine and fancy doing some work to it. Our funds aren't skyhigh for this reason we are thinking S16 pistons and a diesel crank to give us a little grunt. The thing is will we gain much by using 86mm pistons instead of 87mm? Also i no we would have to take a tad off the top off the pistons? If so how would we go about figuring out the cc of the bottom end so we know what cams to go for? Clear sheet and top up jobbie? Im up to date with rebuilding a standard engine but this is a tad different lol good learning curve I guess.Any help and i'd be grateful ________________________________________ Ph2 Black GTI 6!EX black 6 owner But now a Black caged rallye owner Hunting for Go faster bits! Basically you put the piston down in the bore so the top of the piston is flush with the deck of the block. Then you add fluid to the cylinder, measuring as you go with a syringe or burette or similar until the fluid is level with the deck of the block also. Then you work out what the volume of the cylinder would be if the piston were flat topped, and then deduct the cc of the fluid from that amount. Makes sense?! Would be well worth your while spending £15 on a decent book if you plan to start changing strokes and bores etc! ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |
