Yesterday evening I was driving through the lane near where I live, when an old dear came round the bend practically on my side of the road, giving less than a car with on my side and about 1 1/2 widths on her passenger side. There is a little section of kerb on the side I was driving down, which I was rubbing along.

I just thought, you need to over in a sec love.........You really need to move over now......this is going to be close........smash.

Ended up just the wing mirrors hitting, but unfortunately this caused my drivers window to smash, in addition to the mirror glass.

The other classic thing is she didn't stop!!! I spun it round and chased after her, it took me a mile of being behind her flashing my lights and beeping my horn for her to stop, this was only when she pulled up outside a shop the occupants of the car intended to use. She must have been oblivious to me being behind her.

Initially the son said about the speed I was going in a 30, but I was doing 40 along a national speed limit lane, so basically was not going fast. We both want to keep it away from the isurance (although details have bee exchanged) and she seems happy she will cover the cost of repair on my car.

I just need to try and get hold of a Drivers window, mirror glass and a Door handle in astor grey.

Anyone have any of these bit's? I will prob set up a wanted post shortly, but also wanted to vent a little about the incident.

The other funny thing, just after telling me she had never had an accident in her 45 years driving, went on to tell me a similar thing happened to her with a lorry a few years ago.

I am very lucky it was just the wing mirrors hit, otherwise it would be write off city, which would have been more of a pain in the arse!

Matt

I've got one here, Fat Rat is supposedly coming to collect a boot load of s**t from me. He could look to drop it off unless you want to collect sooner.

I have mirror glass as well.

Sweet. I'll take them! How soon is he looking to get down to yours? I can go a few days, but it's not exactly ideal not having a window and just having recycling bags to keep out the rain LOL.

How much would you want for them? You don't happen to have a drivers door handle at all? Any colour will o for now, I'm fed up of opening the passenger side to get in LOL

Tues or Wed is his ETA otherwise it's a free for all on wheels and an interior for a Clio. I'll text you.

No door handles sadly that quest looks to run and run.

Yea, that's why fingers crossed, if it's only going to be a few quid of so in parts she'll probably pay that, it sounded like she would when I was talking to her. Worst case it's 'only' the cost of a window, mirror glass an a bit of my time. There has been something rattling round in the drivers door for ages I've been meaning to investigate. I guess I will be able to now LOL

by the sounds of it this old dear need's to be re-assessed for her driving ability! Sad
well at least it's a fairly easy repair!

you could try PM'ing eddy_gti6 & gota6again who have recently broken Astor's
or failing that just get one sprayed up to match,.. as well as a new mirror cover if needed?

how did she manage to knock your door handle off without marking your door?
LOL i take it this is from a previous mishap? LOL

Yes, it came off in my hand, but I am fed up with opening the door through the passenger side, I need to fix it too, seems like a good time, plus she may well cover the cost of it.

Old people do funny things. Some old dear drove into me once and sped off down the road like Lewis Hamilton. Found her later but she denied everything and the insurance company believed her.
