Probably is. Just shows how bad they were Big grin

Some I've seen look nice but I wouldn't get one. Few lads I know whos got both a Corsa and an Astra and rave on about how quick it is etc. I'm yet to see a VXR beat my Rallye, even my neighbour next door who clams to have a 'stage 3 300bhp' VXR couldnt get by :s he just blamed it on traction. Overrated imo.

I've had a go in a Corsa VXR Artic and it wasnt bad. Yes the owner was 19 and he bought it brand new and I presonally would not own one as they are too boy racerish for me, but it was a good little car. Harsh exhaust on it as standard, it would do my head in.

I thought the Astra's were supposed to be really good?

I can't see how people think their crap, like I said I haven't driven one but 230bhp has to be pretty quick in them. Focus st has less power and is probably heavier and that's pretty quick, well my mates was.

I've had a go one one too, I was suprised at how similar it was in engine delivery to a 6. Your'e not overly aware of the turbo really, You can hear it sure, but it feels almost N/A to me, obviously it revs slightly lower, My best mate has a nice arctic. They are pretty good tbh, about on the same level as a six, in terms of go, I wouldnt say they were any faster really though, and i think my mate would agree.

The LCR Irons a 6 in a straight line which mine is running at 260hp and I struggled to get away from a corsa Vxr I don't think it was standard though.

To be a honest a standard 6 just isn't fast in a straight line anymore let's all be honest.

Was torn between a nurburgring Astra and a focus st 18months ago, the Astra was a nice car and felt nice and powerfull sounded good as well with the Remus exhaust but as a everyday car a bit ott, went for the st in the end though purely because it felt the better all round car but Astra was still a cracking car a world away from the rallye

Don't waste your breath, there are still those who just can't admit that their cars aren't the fastest thing on the road 15 years after it was made.

I agree,Yes the Gti-6 is a cracking car but lets be honest hear,A 300bhp Vxr WOULD certainly leave it for dead Crazy Speaking from experience my old 240bhp Gsi Turbo would disappear into the distance from my old 6!

Yes they understeer/arent overly exciting in corners but there pretty good overall. As with any car they have their pros & cons

Don't get me wrong the 6 isn't the fast thing, not by a long shot. Just from the people near me with them make them sound really really quick. There wasn't much in it they just didn't have the extra to get by, maybe they just didn't push hard I dunno, just my experience. As for the 300bhp VXR I honestly don't believe him as there is no way a standard 6 would out run it or even keep in front. In my eyes he just has a decat and thats it XD

I spent a bit of time behind the wheel on an 08 plate Astra VXR in Black Metallic with the 19" wheel option and thought it was lovely. The comment above about the engine not feeling turbo-charged was correct, but thats how modern petrol turbos are set up, to give you the feel of a much bigger capacity engine.

It was fast enough, the half leather recaros were lovely (more comfy for my fat arse over the Corsa Vxr seats), and it looked great in black, with the 19" s setting it off a treat.

Wasnt that bad on fuel from memory. The remus exhausts make them sound lovely, and id have one hands down over a Focus ST as the Focus looks dumpy imo.

Better on fuel than my sc6 is.... 3 mates have these all approx 260-280bhp with a few mods. The quickest one is slower than my charged 6 at top end speed more than likely due to weight but it pulls better lower down so were fairly even. We chase each other around and have a great larf doing it. They are pretty understeery through the twisties and torque steer like a b**ch :/ but still not miles slower than mine through twisties. ( though my tyres are f**king awful and going ASAP!)

Rocker cover gaskets go for a pastime on those other than that no other problems I am aware of look nice, sound nice but I wouldn't buy one myself nearly as common as 106' where I live Thumbs down
