When refitting a new tensioner do you have to pretension it and lock the needle in position before fitting. Can't see any other way of doing it. I hate it when I don't understand how something works!!! |

leave the pin in if t comes with one, if not just fit it and wind it back so you can get the belt on easily.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Are you talking about the plastic tensioner? If you had the plastic type before you will have a stud which positions it. If you are changing to that from a metal type then you will need to retrofit one. I used an exhaust manifold stud. ________________________________________ |

What Dan said...However I personally prefer the older metal type of tensioner. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

It's the plastic tensioner. Autodata says that the needle is to be wound back past the pin hole and pinned in position. The new tensioner has the needle as far the other way as it will go. Do I need to get it past the pinhole and pin it first or will it sort itself out when the belt goes on (can't for the life of me see how it will do that unless magic happens) |
