Hi guys,

My 306 is a first phase XSI which was fully converted to a GTI6.
Now the issue right now is that there is a crack at the top part of the gas tank, to the right of the pump. So if I have more than half a tank of gas it seeps out of it and into the car and outside as well, not nice at all, and dangerous.
I live in Israel, and it's pretty much impossible to find a first phase XSI at the scrap yards.
I'm trying to figure out whether a gas tank from any of the lower models 306 will fit or not.
2nd phase doesn't work for me because the fuel pump is separate from the 'Fuel buoy' (not sure what the correct term for it is).
So basically my question is will a gas tank from any other cars work? And by work, I mean a 100% fit.
A guy has a Citroen Vulcan he's selling for parts and has a good tank.
I've been searching the internet and some forums but couldn't find any answers at all for this problem I have.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you possitive its not the rubber 90 degree bend split?
It leads up to the fuel neck?

The crack appeared in the tank a few months ago, the previous owner got it "fixed" at the official Peugeot garage. But it started leaking again from the same spot. The top of the fuel pump is dry but the top of the buoy has gas around it. It does dry up and stay dry if I keep the gas level at or below half a tank.
My mechanic checked it as well and confirmed that the gas was coming out of the spot where the repair was made. And the chance of success in trying to repair it again are low.

So I'm just trying to figure out if I must find another XSI or I can use another model of the 306?

OH sorry i misread the first post and thought you said filter Doh
This suggests that a petrol or diesl one would do.

But i think a petrol one would be best as you dont have to worry about traces of diesel etc.

Right. So judging by that thread, basically all 306s from the same phase have the same gas tanks?

Thanks!

Apparently, I've looked about some more and cant see anything to a different effect.
Obviously the pump and sender are different though.
I'll check servicebox now if i can log in.

I tried to sign up for servicebox as well, but it seems that it is now blocked for individuals... What a shame.
Could anyone check if the part numbers for the gas tank match between different 306 models?

@6waysforward

You're correct, they are not compatible across phase 1 and 2/3, but from I can see the phase 1 tanks from different models look identical.

@eliotrw

Heh, that sucks man Sad I can't signup for the service either, so I can't check it by myself.

Does anyone else have access to Servicebox and can check it for an answer please?
