What angel and distance do noise levels get done at for exhausts. I know it's done at 3.5k and that's bout it, just thinking if I look at track days would be an idea to know how loud mine is to be on safe side. Got a decibel meter kicking about. ________________________________________ www.eastcoastmodified.orgE46 318i tourer SE - Dog Car/Work horse 306 Gti - Track Project |

Two things to consider if you think you might be near the limit:1) Cheap noise meters are crap, just because it's under on yours doesn't mean you'll pass 2) Just because you scrape a noise test in the pits doesn't mean they won't ban you if you're too loud on track. This more tends to be the case with turbo cars which are off boost when doing a noise test but then unleash 140db of ungodly fury when you give it some on track. Unless you're running super high boost there's no need for an exhaust to be so loud it fails a test, putting a sensible exhaust on will save you a fortune in wasted track days. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Just had a pdf sent through from Javelin for a trackday i'm doing next week at Anglesey. "Compulsory Noise Testing: All Cars will be required to not exceed a maximum sound emissions test of 105dBs. This is measured at a ¾ of max revs @1/2 metre from each exhaust outlet. Cars will be noise tested prior to joining the circuit." ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

I stand corrected, it IS 1/2 metre not 1m. Anyway, yes most circuits have the same limit of 105dB, except Brands Hatch GP which is 101dB. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

f**k a duck, 131 db? Good luck with your hearing in later life. There are a few 98db's kicking about too so always read your trackday label. Turbos were easy for passing the noise test. ________________________________________ I'm Si btwNight Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper - (The other half's wheels) |
