Another vote for the power steering sensor too. Give the ICV a good clean and see if it helps at all (in my experience you'll have to replace it if its broken anyway). The power steering sensor is down between the rad and the inlet manifold, unplug that to see if it gets any better, if it does, replace it. Good luck!

well if doing the above cures it then why replace sensor? i will unplug sensor before i go to work tomorrow see if

it behaves

Its not going to run perfect without one though.
The revs will probably dip when you turn the wheel without one i think?

Again mines disconnected (wire broke) but doesn't seem to give any ill effects?

It should be there though (and working).

It just helps out with the strain put on the engine during slow speed turning and compensates. You can blip the throttle yes, but it was designed so you do not have to do this. Smile

Do you only get the 'whine' whilst the AC is engaged? Dunno

Tbh I'm being a hypocrite, I unplugged mine a couple months ago which solved the idle but I haven't got round to replacing it either. Hasn't ever stalled when on full lock and parking. Still having slight hesitation issues with mine so I'd like to get that sorted before buying anymore god forsaken sensors Roll eyes

Well it could be the viscous clutch on the compressor which is causing it, or more likely it will be a roller/idler on the aux belt circuit as these are very common to fail and get 'noisy'. Yes
