This is the backbox off the previous system which was on the car when I bought it 2 years ago. It looks like it's got a bit of metal right in the middle. Is this normal??
and the backbox in question, anyone seen one like this before? :
Cheers

This is often how exhaust silencers are laid out.In the second picture, look at the lateral offset between the input and output pipes. The blind pipe forces exhaust gases to find their way out of the box by passing radially out through the perforations and baffles then out through the output shaft. Yes, you will inevitably get a certain amount of back pressure due to such an arrangement. If you want to go faster don't fit a silencer box. |
