OK, I've had a little look under the bonnet for the first ever time and found it's all pretty grubby.
However, some bits are wet and grubby too. Not what I was wanting.

First one I noticed was the pipe going to the throttle bit is a bit oily. Any ideas?

Secondly, I noticed some wetness at the back of the block, passenger side, under this round thing. Slap bang in the centre of this picture. O-ring leaking? Dunno

and finally, what is this connection for? (behind the strut, top left of engine bay)

It's ok, I'll run out of questions soon Razz

the oil coming from that pipe is normal, shouldnt really be getting out though

Second pic, that's the vacuum pump. The seal is probably leaking.

So as not to confuse the bloke, the brake servo is the large round black item on the bulkhead where the master cylinder comes out from.

It's the Vacuum pump which he has pictured which is leaking.

There are two seals on the vacuum pump for the servo, big ones about 60p, the little buggers a couple of quid, easy peasy to change though

Just for reference, the Haynes Manual's don't actually cover the GTi-6/Rallye. No

The manual for the 306 does however cover the XSi 16v which is a very similar setup and you can use the directions for that for most jobs on the 6/Rallye. Thumbs up
