Hi all I've been thinking of moving my air intake from behind the rad where it prob sucks in warm air to somewhere it can suck in cooler air. Has anybody done this, if so where did you put it and did you notice any results( pics would be good too), cheers |

Remove the fog put an intake setup there! Viper, 90 degree 76mm pipe and 76mm flexi hose to fog intake Or mod your intake scoop to take air from just above the radiator grille You won't gain any BHP but it'll make you're engine a bit more responsive ________________________________________ Proud Member of the ASTOR Owners Club |

not to a standard box no the standard's in and out vents are at the top and wouldn't reach to the fog properly,...you could mod the scoop like,... the previous owner of may car placed a K&N inside the original airbox this scoop and modded the bottom of the air box like so,.. my setup was,.. with a flexi hose leading to a trumpet in the place of where the fog hole is in the Grille,.. now I'm going to remove my bettery and relocate it to the boot and make use of the original air scoop hope this makes sense to you? ________________________________________ Proud Member of the ASTOR Owners Club |

Yeah it does, thanks a lot, do you not think that you'll still be getting warm air from the rad with the filter positioned there |

What about cheap enclosed kit? When I bought the Rallye it had a "pipercross" enclosed kit, but nowhere on it does it say it's a pipercross, was just told. Is it any good? And will it have any benefit to using it too a real pipercross open filter? |

Just use the std set up without any holes or silly cut out as this reduces the flow if anything, make sure you have a good filter, Green, PiperX.________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

Standard airbox with a decent cold air feed will be best in terms of performance. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

That pic of the K&N in standard air box opened up on the bottom looks as though it would suck in all kinds of nasties ( dirt, insects, gravel, small children etc) off the road. That must be great for engine life. Really, you want a setup that gets cold/clean air from as high as practicable - i.e. where the factory intake is. A lot of this aftermarket stuff is snake oil designed to get people to spend unnecessary money - those open K&N in engine bay with no ducting are sucking in hot air from behind rad and engine bay heat soak. Since the power loss is unnoticeable in normal driving and it is a bit louder people can persuade themselves that they are master engineers who had managed to make it faster than the factory did. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

I cut the snorkel on mine, and fitted a small plate to direct air,so air is fed straight into standard airboxFitted a RamAir filter inside the standard box and removed the stupid resonators Got a feeling its a pretty good set up,as my car did 180bhp with this airbox and Magnex system and de-cat mik wrote: That pic of the K&N in standard air box opened up on the bottom looks as though it would suck in all kinds of nasties ( dirt, insects, gravel, small children etc) off the road. Thats my track car setup. Not perfect but not too bad. The shoes and clothes allow roundabouts to be navigated 10mph faster than normal too. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |
