So far on my list.
New timing belt/water pump
Heat wrap exhaust manifold
New driveshafts
Anything else? Is it worth/necessary to change any of the mounts/etc?

Personally I'd check over absolutely ever last bush and fixing you can find and if even looks slightly worn, replace it. Steering rack and ram are also far easier to get to, how about a cheeky Xsara VTS steering rack upgrade while you're there? ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Id refresh the engine mounts, checking the top mount cup for cracking as well. Plus renew the front and rear main oil seals and rear hockey stick seals if your pulling the engine apart. Then look for and treat the rust that will be present in the engine bay somewhere, sooo much easier with the power unit out of the way. ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ (now gone...)2004 Aegean Blue 206 GTi 180 (also gone...) 2006 Skoda Fabia vRS in Sprint Yellow honestly3k wrote: Do you wrestle for a living matt? you could literally do anything with the engine out. i have mine out at the moment and i'm doing belt, pump, lower pulley, all new gaskets, took the inlet off and chucked a PTFE one on, then powdercoated the inlet, new driveshaft seals, flywheel end and crank end crank seals, new VSS, new mounts, new radiator.. how far do you go?________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |
