Hi all,

As the title suggests i'm looking at putting a Gti-6 engine into a 205 to run as a track car, but don't know which 205 should I buy, their is a 1.1 for sale close to me but don't know if it would be worth buying a 1.6gti or 1.9gti?
Already got my name on an engine Big grin so just need to find out what would be needed to convert it in order to put a cost together.

All help is much appreciated Thumbs up

Any gti but 1.9 would be better. pretty much a weekend job. speak to miles off here or google pugracing. u will need a conversion loom and a reangled ex mani too. It drops in and the rest is easy. use the 205 gearbox jobs a fish

a 1.9 Gti is the best base as you have the running gear there, I have done a couple of 1.1 (Base models) with ultra low mileage but its allot more work, Fuel Lines, Tank, Beam, Front Subrame, Dampers, Dash etc, Arch issue's too unless you run different arch trims

but I stock everything for a plug & play conversion if needed

Cheers fellas,

How much would a conversion kit cost if I were to buy a 1.9gti? Is their any other parts needed apart from the loom and exhaust manifold?

Don't underestimate the cost of service items and all the other small bits which are really worth doing at the same time. That's of course if you are going to do it properly.

Same old story with the SC conversions. Some people budget for the main off the shelf items and then get cold feet when the other costs raise their head.

Depends how 'reliable' you want to make it and whether you want to do it right once or revisit areas.

I'd personally budget a grand on bits and pieces.

i'm doing this at the moment. my 205 has ended up as a bare shell and other things have presented themselves LOL go figure

total spend on top of buying the 205 and having the gti6 engine already = probably about a grand

dangti6 is your man for this

uprated lower mount, converted loom, lambda boss, reangled downpipe / manifold, stuff like belt and waterpump, thermostat adapter and gti alloy outlet, hoses, there's loads of things. and then you start finding other things and what's the point not doing them whilst the engine's out? LOL

Done loads of these, dont realy need the alloy top hose adaptor, shorten and reangle the std 205 downpipe, use the gti6 heater matrix hoses, std gti6 wiring loom which can be modded, run the loom through the NS of bay into fuse box, not in by pedal box. Cut rad cowling and tilt rad forward, gearbox and clutch, you can use push or pull with std 205 cable, you will need a rev counter adaptor and a oil pressure gaugue adaptor union.
