They've already done it / are doing it tomorrow morning. So long as it doesn't turn into a colossal expense, I'm not too worried.

Slight update, car seemed better but now worse again. I know the exhaust is blowing quite a bit but I didn't think it would cause this much of an issue.

Has the cable got grub screwed locator to adjust the length of the throttle cable? If so it may have slipped making the cable to long again. Also, is thirsty? If so maybe the lamda is not that clever. That may give performance issues too. Mine does around 400miles to a tank average driving for reference. Smile

On my journey to and from Brands I can do ~120 miles from £30 of premium, which is roughly quarter of a tank so I don't think fuel is too bad. That's mixed driving, but generally keeping under 4k RPM as the roads are quite slow.

I'll have a check for the screw this evening, I can't remember!

must be heavy with your right foot!!!

Day to day mixed driving to work with quite a few WOT moments mine will do just over 200 miles on £40.

I haven't had the car long so probably still do have a heavy right foot!

The car also seems sluggish to respond to throttle inputs, sometimes it's slow to pick up revs and other times it holds them when the throttle comes off.

Any ideas?

Definitely sounds like a sticky throttle cable to me, make sure you fully check out the cable and see how far it travels etc.

Failing that, maybe the CTS is faulty causing the engine to run slightly rich which would explain the sluggish acceleration and slightly increased fuel consumption possibly.

I've got a blowing exhaust and a slightly dodgy throttle cable!

Will find out what the CTS is later as I'm on my phone

The above is true. My fire ring was shagged and I lost power and had worse economy. Also had a whooshing noise from the cat area.

Mine was blowing on the backbox and centre pipe join and I'm suprised that had such an affect on performance, but as soon as I changed it I've noticed a sharper throttle response and more 'get up and go'. Good luck mate

Not sure where it's blowing yet as I haven't had chance to jack the car up and look, will do so at the weekend.

This is a good point, a leaky fire ring can cause sluggish response. Best to jack it up and check before looking at any other possible issues. Yes

That's the plan Smile Going to the other house tonight to do some work on the track car so if I get time, I'll jack the road car up as well to have a look.

If you do manage to have a gander, let us know the results. Smile

Massive thread revival. I'm not sure mines pulling as well as it should do so would be interested in the outcome of this even if it was 2 years ago!

Christ, can't believe this was 2 years ago. The exhaust blowing was probably one of the key things. I've also found the car runs much, much better on premium fuel so I keep it on that most of the time.

I always thought the higher octane juice was just to stop pinking on real high end performance stuff?

I may well have an exhaust blow so ill have a look into that.

Yes and no. It runs particularly well on Shell V-Power, so could be that particular blend of fuel works well for whatever reason. No guarantees it'll make any difference, just seems to work well on my car.

Definitely check out the exhaust blow, could be causing the issues.
