Im about to buy a set of 406 brembos, i know i need to get

G88 discs but for what car? 288 xantia or 283 gti6??

Also i'll be keeping my clones for now anyway so, what spacers

do i need to buy, 10 or 15mm?

I looked at eddiebeanos setup, 1.2's and wilwoods, good 20mm

gap between spokes so assuming theyl go straight on with brembos

anyone know where to get G88's cheaper than £230?

I read through the entire brake section regarding brembos and squealling, the majority of people

suffered from it but one or two were noise free, i'm very tempted just to try the plain 288mm discs

to see if i'm one of the lucky ones lol, i can get a pair of Pagid discs through the garage for a

measly £27! when i first spoke to ECP, i asked for best quality discs, they told me funnily enough

they stock Brembo ones, the guy then told me they can no longer supply them so Pagid are best

ones i can get from them.

i'm probably p**sing into the wind but i'll try anything before i shell out for G88's!....oh and i need

a set of 15's that will clear the calipers, eddiebeano has offered to to let me try his 1.2's

Hmmm, £216..

as long as they clear, that'l do me. When you say 'just clear', roughly how much clearance are we talking?

lol! i was thinking about sourcing a set of ford fitment rims Et38-42 as i have a set of 24mm (iirc)

hubcentric adaptors, this gives me more much more of a chance of finding wheels and machineing

isnt too much of a problem for me as my mate is an ex turner / fabricator so if i had to alter

spacers to get the correct offset then i'd be sorted

i received my brembos today and can't believe how light they are! trial fiited one of them to

eddies car with his 1.2 TD rim (ET15) and theres plenty of clearance, probably about 10mm at the

closest point

just wait till you see the weight of the disc... LOL

total weight of disc and caliper is nigh on identical between std gti6 and brembo+288's......

and a decent set of AP's weigh under half that of those brembo's, even the renault ones are significantly lighter.

fair point, but at least they wont work out heavier than gti6 setup

soon as ive got new wheels sorted i'm going to try plain 288 discs, got to worth a bash for the sake of £27! that plus

set of decent pads,...someone here can advise me on pad choice i'm sure

For fast road ferodo ds2500s or mintex 1144s will be brilliant. For note track orientated pads ds3000s or mintex 1155s will be good, or you want to start looking at cl pads for out and out track work, but be warned they will ruin your paint after a while unless religiously washed...

DS3000's.... Don't bother, awful pads IMO, they'll run out of feel when they get hot. Carbon lorraines all the way for track work! Thumbs up
