Hi guys, got amis fire problem at low revs, but as soon a u give it some it kicks through it and is fine just happen on tickover and lumpy when on low revs, not sure if could be plugs/coils or maybefuel pump. Just changed fuel filter last week after car would die andkick straight back in when puttin some fuel in and old filter was well manky. Any ideas would b good going to take plugs outand check them or just replace them. Thanks allKEN ________________________________________ Diablo Phase 1 NOW DEADAlfa 156 2.0 JTS |

Could be one of many things:- Lambda, doesn't work on WOT so could be to blame - MAP sensor - Idle control valve (stepper motor) Read the FAQ on testing sensors and go round them with a multimeter and you should find the culprit. |

I would hazard a guess at the lambda being the cause. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

When you say misfire, do you mean it's popping or do you mean it's a cylinder that's not firing as some people call both of those symptoms the same thing?________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

Ok here goes car runs much better but still havin same probs. Fuel was low and then put a £10 of fuel in problem got better as fuel dropped problem came back noticed the fuel guage goin up and down so now thinking it could be a vacuum problem in fuel tank as i noticed a really long hiss when removing cap the other weekbut didint think much as weather hot. So removed cap and drove round for abit and its still there but not as bad. Fuel light stayed on as needle dropped and didnt go up and down as much which is making me think tank pressure! Cant find anything about air breather on tank. This has only got worse since i changed the fuel filter dont remember it being this bad before. Any ideas Please please :-( ________________________________________ Diablo Phase 1 NOW DEADAlfa 156 2.0 JTS |

You say you've changed the fuel filter, I take it you put the new one on in the correct direction of flow?________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

skybluken wrote: Positive but will double. But would of thought if that was the case it would happen all the time? I agree. To be honest, it doesn't sound like a fuelling issue if it only happens at low revs and you go through it and then it clears...I suspect a possible fouled plug which only cleans up under higher rpm or a coil pack that is on its way out. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I'm thinking along the line of fuel tank breather/pump where its pulling fuel through andbuilding up a vacuum in the tank then it clearing causing it to die then breather opens giving the instant go?? Where is the breather cant find any thing on here normally its at the fuel filler neck i believe on other cars but cant see it??________________________________________ Diablo Phase 1 NOW DEADAlfa 156 2.0 JTS |

when you find out whats causing this, let us know mate. seems like im having the same symptoms.i "fixed" it earlier, albeit temporarily, it was idling and running brilliantly but this evening it went back to the fault ive got some wiring damage on a few of the wires going to the sensors on the throttle body by the looks of it. all i know is i repaired a few wires there and it seemed to work but now its back. il be checking my repairs tomorrow, but i cant be certain if id just moved another dodgy connection and its "slipped" again. mines defo a wiring loom problem though, 100% now |

I think they all hiss don't they if it's been ran down from aFull tank? Not sure if mine does or not but I've seen this happen with loads of cars ad it never made them run bad ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |
