Hi guys, had a few little problems with the car the past week.

First of all the battery went flat whilst the car was locked & the DAMN Ecu locked itself so i purchased 1 from Rich_w. So it arrived, & i fitted it, car started & has been fine until today.

The problem seems to be the fuel pump relay i think.

I turn ignition on, pump doesnt prime but when i give the relay a tap the pump starts to prime but it stays on for longer than it should & the car wont start.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Ross

The battery going flat won't have caused the ECU to lock.

That relay is a double unit that also controls the ignition so if it's on the blink it could be the cause of your problems.

Well the man that sold me the ecu told me that the battery going flat may have caused the ecu to lock. I cant see why it would have locked, i was just passing on what i was told.

As for the relay, are the same 1s fitted to other vehicles? The problem i face is that im living over in Holland & its a pain in the nuts to get anything quickly.

Can you not order it from Peugeot and get someone in the UK to collect it and post it to you?

As for the same unit being used, they are used on other models, however I'm not 100% the units are identical although someone here will know. Yes

So today i bought a new relay from Peugeot. I received the correct 1 for the car but now the pump wont prime (it does with the old 1) & the engine light does not come on so im thinking the immobiliser could be the problem.

I purchased an ECU last week from Rich_w & its chipped not to lock.

If i disconnect the immobiliser, do you think the car will start how it should?

Im seriously getting peeeeeeeeeeeeeeed off with this car. I should have bought a Clio sport as i had originally planned grrrrrrrrrrr

Right guys, a few weeks have gone by & the car has been fine until Sunday.

The story is:

I have a Rich_w ECU
New battery
New fuel pump relay (black 1 behind the battery)

Everything was working fine until a week ago. I tried to start the car but no joy, the engine light wasn't coming on. After a few off & ons with the key, the light came on & the car started.

Sunday: I went out to the car, no light coming on & no fuel pump prime so I can't start the car. I got to work yesterday, tried the relay on another car & it works fine. I have checked all the fuses also.

So, any ideas what it could be? The car is really starting to p**s me off. It will be the last 6 I ever buy.

What makes this more difficult is that I'm living in Holland with no facilities like I have back home.

Anyway, help would be great.

Thanks in advance

Ross

But you said that the relay worked on a different car when you turned the ignition on, not your car...if this is the case I would also suspect the ignition barrel. Yes

im thinking either ignition switch or the wiring to the relay.

my ignition wiring had been f**ked about with. got the tape off and the red wire had come apart so maybe yours has worked loose over the years?

The old relay brings on the pump but the new relay doesnt.

I have just tried the locked ECU with the new relay & the pump primes so i think there could be a fault with the ECU i got from Rich. Does this sound more like an ECU fault now?

You say you've tried the relay on another car, would this car be another '6'?

If so, try the Rich W supplied ECU on that car and see if it runs to eliminate the ECU being the issue. Wink
