Finally the day came when X132FVC's heart was ripped out from her Sad

Came out nice and easy. Will now be split - gearbox was fine so that will be up for sale soon, same with the bottom end......head needs to be checked for any damage and then will base what I do with it on that.

The breaking thread started 10 months ago and the engine has only just come out. Not sure what`s worse...

I know, I'm not a full time car breaker so most it was done to order if you like. After a year of it just sitting around and only being looked at when a part was need I've decided to strip it all and get rid of the shell and get the drive back.

Surely would have only cost £600 max to get it done? Unsure

Could even have done it in stages to keep the cost reasonable?

Fair enough I guess, hopefully you'll be back in the fold some day. Wink

If it's sat for 10 months after HG failure then you may find one (or more) of the bores are rusted beyond recovery. Just depends on how much coolant has been sat in the bores.

Thanks for the heads up Rich, didn't think of that but only because I took it off the road as soon as the first sign of a failing HG showed up.

If there had been coolent in the bores, will the rust be obvious - never taken an engine apart so not sure what to expect.

Yes, it will be fairly obvious and a good heads up from Rich about this issue. Yes

Finally Dee! Although it's a sad thing to see another 6 being broken up, but it needed to be done. Perhaps now someone can benefit from the cylinder head Smile
