How "hard" exactly are you driving it when this occurs? Unsure

If the brakes recover once they've cooled, it's not the fluid as once that boils it's gone for good.

As Stan says, how hard are you braking? Is this on road or on track? Most road cars will cook brakes if you drive around like a tool on roads.

Fairly hard I'd say, limited a little due to street use, not track, 2-4 harsh braking over a space of a mile and then brakes don't work and pedel goes really spongey

Yeah to be honest I'd say that's just going to happen. Just one of the many reasons you shouldn't drive like that on public roads Thumbs up

Brakes work once cooled, they heat up to quick and fade quicker than the old cheap ones I was using

Regardless of how hard you are driving its probably worth upgrading to a gti-6 brake setup Smile

The size of rotor you are running there and the calipers are just not up to the kind of effort described. If you want some real decent performance upgrade the brake setup in terms of size. Yes

I have never had brake issues with standard pug/citroen pads, I did manage to completely fook the pads in my ZX in 15 minutes, but that was on Llandow and they were cheap s**te APEC ones fitted by the previous owner to MOT it LOL replaced with Textar pads and they were just fine again.

S16 uses 266mm pads, same as my ZX originally did, and the same as most 405's.

I have done a trackday in my 405 on standard pads and had no issues (phase2 Mi16)

Dont bother to upgrade to a gti 6 brake set up their not going to help matters even with Ferodo 2500 brake pads i have them on my car with 23 mm ms and 5.1 brake fluid and they still crap but loads on here say they are a exellent upgrade. My advice to you would be to go for 4 pots or 6 pot calipers and thats speaking from experience.

Well bob weve talked about this before but no caliper south of a 6pot will brake like you would like...

Trust me mate gti-6 calipers with good pads and fluid with 283mm discs is CLEARLY going to be better than a 266mm setup isn't it.

1. Fit some cooling ducting.
2. Ditch the BD pads, I tried some of those on a metro and I'd be happier with balsa wood.

personally rather than f**king around with pads and spending money on your current brake setup which judging by how easy you over heat them sounds to me like its worth getting a gti-6 setup.
Tbh if i was you i would get gti-6 calipers. Ferodo ds2500's good fluid and some brembo discs.
The better pads along with larger pad + disc contact area should make a big difference.
Rather than "just" pads.
Its not like a gti6 setup is rare complex to do or expensive.
And you sound like you cook brakes good.

Did you bed the ferrodos in properly?

I have run cheap a** delphi discs with ds2500's at trackdays and never had even the slighest fade.

There is a FAQ relating to bedding in and putting the pads through a propoer heat cycle.
Bedding them in

When you hit the brake pedal your car has to stop ASAP unfortunatly mine just does not stop when i want it to which is strange considering everyone else on here has not not got the same problem with their gti6 brake set up.Dont get me wroung this is a much better set up than standard 205 1.9 gti brakes but its just not doing it for me im going to go for 406 brembo's next regardless of the spacer size etc and if that dont work for me Tar ox 6 pots.

There's something not right with it then because it stops like f**k in mine with the ds2500s, when there
Cold you have to press the pedal a bit but after that they are brilliant.
