have a look through coskevs rallye restore thread and Matt evans astor Oe thread. Both have gotten brilliant results not bad for two old men!!!

I have 2 205s to get done in the next fortnight so need to research it carefully.

Bilt hamber deox-gel for stuff you need to coat in situ, one handy tip is to put cling film over it once you have brushed it on, makes it work better.

For stuff you can remove, try Bilt Hamber deox-c, leave stuff to soak for a couple of days, back to bare metal no worries!

Andy - direct from BH website, or ring them direct, very helpful lady on the phone. Wire wheel on a grinder to get most of it back to bare metal, then the BH stuff will kill the remnants in the pits that are left.

+1 for the Bilt Hamber stuff, never used the gel but the powder is fantastic. From this:

to this:

With nothing but soaking for 24 hours in warm water and Deox-C, then a quick wire brush.

As ever, wasn't that simple No

As in the top picture the subframe bolt snapped off in one, leaving me with a car in the drive in pieces. Peugeot couldn't get one (or they were expensive, can't remember which) so I bought one from someone breaking one, which I then de-rusted.

Worked a treat, no issues Thumbs up

You can buy these new for less than the price of the rust remover and the time you've spent at miinimjm wage on them!
I think mine cost me about £10-£25 for the 2 brackets and square
But things in the middles

That's impressive fair play, I've got a few bits of rust to do on my car and based on those results I think I'll try this.

Anyone had any long term experience with it and how good it is at preventing the rust coming back?

It won't stop rust coming back as it's just a remover not a preventer. I just painted them up with Hammerite afterwards Yes

It's practically water, you put a couple of big scoops of the powder in a tray of hot water and agitate it every so often, so once you've rinsed it off it doesn't leave anything behind to prevent rust.

I never said I bought the Deox-C just to do these, I already had it.

I do small bits in the saucepan simmering away, i cant think of any other safe way that would keep the water warm, seems to get rid of the rust quicker.

Not tried the deox-gel yet, need to try it really, used all the other bits they sell.
