just thought i'd post cuz i'm quite chuffed that i was able to get this sorted with out any major dramas. Cool

since i bought my 6, only up until recently i hadn't realized that neither of my twin fans where working, and so after doing a search on here, i followed peoples advice first of all by removing the brown sensor while the engine was turned on, to my delight both the fans spun back into life so at least i knew they both worked. but when the sensor was put back in they both stopped, undetered i then went out for a short drive and then drove home and parked her up and let the engine idle so the engine temp would go up.

(now for the best bit Big grin )
i sat and watched the temp rise and as it got to 97, as people had said they should, i heard a woosh, and both fans kicked in! even better the fans also brought the temp back down to 90 before they turned off.

all i can say is that i'm very happy that i was able to do this myself but really wanted to say that without other peoples input on this forum then i would have probably gone to garage and wasted some time and money that didn't have to be !

This matter may seem very petty to some people on here but because i am not mechanically trained it gives you a sense of acheivement when you can fix a problem yourself

I know i haven't been on here very long but i have seen the forum change in this period (for perfectly good reasons) and thought i'd give some positive feedback about it Thumbs up

So to fix it, you now have the brown plug removed constantly?

Sounds like a dirty connection on the plug, glad you managed to sort it though. Smile

Similar sort of thing happened to me once but I need a new fan unit. I tried the sensor, then one of the green relays in between the fans, if I flicked the relay hard enough sometimes it would work but the ultimate conclusion was that it was one of the bearings in the right hand fan as it had no trouble perpetually moving, it just had trouble starting itself into motion. But yeah, mine is fixed but glad you got yours sorted Tom aifnd that it was a simple fix :-)
