Yet again more questoins to ask on the same bloody engine LOL

If i fill the oil up to proper level it will smoke (burning the oil i reckon) and then clear itself when it has roughly hit the lower level on the dipstick, after that it is clear and will not smoke again...

Any ideas what this is?
help appreciated please. Smile

Sounds like you have too much crankcase pressure and so when the oil is full, some is being forced up past the oil control rings and being burnt.
The cause of this is probably a blocked breather. Yes

Cheers stan. I shall look at the breather tomorrow, hopefully looking like it's not the head gasket now. LOL

Hopefully. Smile

The part of the breather that you want to pay particular attnetion to is the gauze filter. This is found on one of the breather hoses going from the head to the throttle body. It looks like a round black "UFO" near the head. This can get blocked. Yes

I think so, although it's so long since I had one on my car I can't honestly remember...

Your issue has to be crankcase pressure though as it wouldn't burn a litre of oil and then stop burning it otherwise. If you had an engine which burnt oil, it would burn oil all the time. Yes

Good call that one. Yes

Some people say that the oil level gauge on the dash isn't very accurate, but I find it extremely accurate...

Oh dear, you're not having much luck with this car are you?

Bottom arm won't take long to change, although you say it "snapped"? What part of it exactly? Unsure

Nope not at all ha!

Changed it and the track rod end and a new tyre as that was mashed,
The front part snapped off and was just the back bush holding the rest on, i'll chuck a pic up later

That's not very common, don't hear of many wishbones simply "snapping" on here...
